I gathered all my ingredients, and put the soup together while my oldest daughter was working on some school work.
I let it cook all day on high(4-5 hours). When the timer went off I went to add the noodles, but it didn't look right. It wasn't hot enough. It had been on high all day and gotten warm but not hot. So it basically fermented all day long. Turns out the element in the bottom had started to quit. Luckily, I still had the ingredients on hand so I made up another batch on the stove top, minus the chicken. But doing that put off baking a pumpkin bread for dessert. Bummer.
So last night after soccer, my WONDERFUL husband took us on a wild goose chase looking for the perfect replacement. We started at Bed Bath and Beyond, then Target, and ended up at Kohls. I was surprised at the lack of choices, but I settled on a Crock Pot that was similar to the one I had.
I have also been talking about getting a smaller one for a while- for dips, overnight oatmeal, and appetizers-my husband found this cute double crock pot while we were there and insisted I get it. Who was I to say no to a new kitchen gadget? It will be perfect for making slowcooker oatmeal for the family- we can make 2 kinds at the same time!
I had to try it out today so I have banana torte oatmeal in one, and pumpkin coffee cake oatmeal in the other.
So I don't have my chicken noodle soup recipe for you like I promised, but I know I will be making it again soon! And as soon as I do, I will be sure to post it.
In the meantime...
Happy (Slow) Cooking!
